Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Engineer and/or Property Director/Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of building HVAC, electrical, Life Safety, and all auxiliary equipment. This role is critical to maintaining optimal building performance and ensuring exceptional tenant satisfaction across JLL's Ottawa portfolio. You will serve as the frontline technical expert, maintaining high standards of professionalism while managing complex building systems and supporting JLL's commitment to operational excellence and sustainability initiatives.

Job Responsibility

  • Operate and maintain building mechanical systems including central plant and localized heating, cooling, and ventilating equipment
  • Respond to tenant service work orders quickly and professionally, ensuring courteous and expert resolution
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure building systems operate at optimum efficiency
  • Manage water treatment systems through testing, analysis, and chemical feed adjustments to maintain proper levels
  • Complete custodial housekeeping tasks in mechanical/electrical areas as required
  • Supervise outside contractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of contracted repairs and services
  • Monitor energy consumption and support sustainability initiatives across multiple properties

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of commercial building repairs/operations experience
  • Experience operating Fire and Life Safety systems in commercial building environments
  • Building Environmental Systems Operator Certificate Class 1 & 2 or equivalent trade certifications
  • Proven experience with computerized building management and control systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating integrity and dedication to service excellence
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills with problem-solving capabilities
  • Availability to respond to emergency callbacks and assume on-call responsibilities for multiple properties

Nice to have

  • Bilingual capabilities (English/French)
  • Cross-training experience across multiple property types
  • Knowledge of OSHA and local safety regulations
  • Experience with energy management and sustainability programs
  • Familiarity with JLL or similar commercial real estate operations
