Job Description

The town of Dedham seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Building Inspector. Supervised by the Building Commissioner, this position performs administrative and inspection work related to the enforcement and interpretation of the Massachusetts Building Codes, Town of Dedham’s Zoning Bylaws, and applicable codes relating to building construction, while performing all other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • At least five years experience in the supervision of building construction or design, or a two year associates degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of knowledge and ability
  • Certified by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards as required
  • Certified by the Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations and Standards as a Local Inspector
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Building & Architectural Codes
  • Knowledge of state plumbing, gas, electrical codes, and fire prevention laws
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts requirements for building construction, energy, fire prevention, light, ventilation, and safe exits
