This position is located on the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. This position is a union position; therefore, provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreement/labor contract apply to the filling of this position.
Job Responsibility:
Performs routine manual Labor and a variety of semiskilled labor in the maintenance and care of maintaining building, ground and equipment on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds
Performs exterior maintenance of facilities
Performs a variety of semi-skilled work below the journey level such as making minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration equipment
Maintains equipment in proper worker order
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the duties enumerated above
Requirements:
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school plus one year of maintenance work experience preferably associated with the building and mechanical trades and/or heavy equipment operation
Requires the ability to pass a name-based background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
Requires the ability to pass a pre-employment physical
Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B or greater
This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Requires ability to use hand and power tools, operate heavy equipment or perform semiskilled manual work in a safe manner
Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends
Requires the ability to work outside in a variety of extreme elements (rain, cold, heat, etc.)
