Job Description

Our Public Sector client are seeking a Head of Building Control and are offering a market-leading daily rate of £750–£800, with scope for further negotiation for an exceptional candidate. The initial contract is expected to run for a minimum of six months. The role operates on a hybrid working basis, with the expectation that you will meet with the Building Control team as required and be available to attend site inspections. As Head of Building Control, you will work closely with senior officers across the Strategic Planning and Infrastructure function. Ambitious, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking, you will draw on your extensive Building Control expertise and technical knowledge to deliver statutory Building Control services and support a customer-focused, results-driven approach. You will lead, motivate, and inspire the Building Control team, while contributing to an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects across the borough.

Requirements

  • Class 4 Registered Building Inspector (Class 3 applicants with significant and relevant experience may be considered)
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team of Building Control professionals
  • Proven experience in preparing, managing, and developing a Building Control service in line with the Building Safety Regulator and Building Safety Act 2022
  • Degree-level qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable learning
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CABE, CIOB, or equivalent)
  • Substantial Building Control experience with ability to manage projects ranging from domestic dwellings to complex commercial, mixed-use, and high-rise schemes

  • Direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process
