Job Description:

The town of North Andover is seeking a Building Commissioner to join its Community and Economic Development Division.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversees all Building department operations including the permitting process
  • Interpretation and enforcement of zoning by-laws
  • Responding to public inquiries and concerns over state building statutes, codes, and zoning by-laws
  • Supervising all Building department staff

Requirements:

  • Must be certified as an Inspector of Buildings/Building Commissioner in accordance with 780 CMR 110.R7
  • Associate’s Degree or two years of technical school training
  • Four to six years of experience in construction
  • At least one to two years of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of ADA requirements, state statutes, building codes and local zoning laws
