Job Responsibility

  • Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of all facility systems, including HVAC and ventilation, refrigeration where applicable, boilers, hot water and washdown systems, compressed air, electrical distribution and lighting, as well as water supply and drainage systems
  • Maintain the facility in an audit-ready condition at all times, ensuring cleanliness, upkeep, and compliance
  • Coordinate and manage external contractors and service providers
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility improvements
  • Monitor utility usage and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Oversee snow removal, yard maintenance, and seasonal facility requirements
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety standards and collaborate closely with QA during audits
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, including lockout and tagout procedures
  • Participate in the Health and Safety Committee and ensure follow-up on corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in electromechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field, DEP, Red Seal, or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong mechanical expertise with knowledge of electrical, automation, and facility systems
  • Experience in washdown or food-grade environments
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to the maintenance team
  • Plan and prioritize work while ensuring effective use of resources
  • Mentor and develop team members to build team capability
  • Foster a team-oriented, accountable, and solution-driven culture
  • Collaborate with operations, QA, and leadership to align maintenance priorities with production needs
  • Support budgeting, planning, and cost control for maintenance and facilities
