Job Description

The Build and Release Engineer ensures smooth transitions from development to deployment in the software development lifecycle. Reporting to the Build & Release Manager, this hands-on role encompasses project execution, source code management, build automation, deployment process optimization, and communication of best practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Project Execution: Collaborate with teams to define and execute build, release, and deployment projects
  • Source Code Management: Track and version code changes effectively
  • Build Automation: Develop automated continuous build processes to identify errors and synchronize builds
  • Build Systems: Design efficient build systems using tools/scripts (e.g., Shell, Perl)
  • Bug Tracking Integration: Ensure seamless communication between development and issue resolution
  • Deployment Optimization: Implement efficient deployment techniques like rolling and hot deployments
  • Release Coordination: Plan release windows, manage risks, and monitor progress to meet KPIs
  • Process Compliance: Ensure compliance during releases and maintain release repositories
  • Stakeholder Communication: Coordinate and communicate release plans, readiness reviews, and Go-Live activities
  • Automation Tools: Advance the use of automation tools for integration and deployment

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in application release management
  • Proven experience with ERP programs and multi-phase delivery
  • Knowledge of integrating systems (on-premise, IAAS, PAAS, SAAS)
  • Enterprise-level experience managing multiple releases in dynamic environments
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and stakeholder management
  • Strong knowledge of source control, build, release, and configuration management tools
  • Experience with build pipelines, automation, and configuration management
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Expertise in tools like MS DevOps, Jira, Jenkins, Docker, SAP CHARM
