We are looking for a skilled Budget Analyst to join our team on a contract basis in Costa Mesa, California. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial analysis, preparing budgets, and supporting reporting initiatives. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with expertise in budgeting processes and advanced Excel skills.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and implement budgeting tools, including Synoptix, to streamline payroll and variable expense integrations
Conduct thorough financial analyses to compare budgeted figures against actual results and identify key variances
Prepare training materials and support the development of the upcoming fiscal year's budget
Design and maintain dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure data-driven decision-making
Collaborate on audit processes and assist with year-end close activities
Utilize Ellucian Colleague software to manage and report financial data efficiently
Provide insights and recommendations to optimize budget management and reporting workflows
Ensure compliance with approved annual operating budgets and financial policies
Work onsite three days a week (Monday through Wednesday preferred) to coordinate with team members and stakeholders
Requirements:
Proven experience in budgeting processes, including annual and operating budgets
Strong proficiency in advanced Excel functions for data analysis and reporting
Familiarity with financial systems, particularly Synoptix and Ellucian Colleague
Ability to create dashboards and track KPIs effectively
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in preparing training materials and supporting budget planning activities
Knowledge of audit processes and year-end financial close procedures
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams
