Robert Half is in search of a skilled Budget Analyst to join a team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on a long-term contract basis. This Budget Analyst role is essential for ensuring efficient financial management within a university setting. The successful Budget Analyst candidate will play a key role in budget preparation, financial reporting, and analysis to support organizational goals.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports and summaries on a routine basis to support informed decision-making
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes within the Budget Office
  • Assist departments in developing the annual budget for the college, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives
  • Analyze and interpret complex financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights
  • Create and record journal entries to maintain accuracy in financial records
  • Update and maintain financial spreadsheets, schedules, reports, and calculations to ensure data integrity
  • Monitor organizational expenditures and develop projections for monthly and quarterly spending
  • Contribute to long-term budget planning and forecasting to meet strategic goals
  • Conduct variance analysis to explain discrepancies between budget, forecast, and actual figures
  • Support audits and respond to requests for financial data and surveys, ensuring accuracy and timely submission

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is required
  • At least five years of experience analyzing fiscal data, programs, and operations within an educational or non-profit setting
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other related software
  • Proven ability to create both short-term and long-term financial projections using forecasting tools and data analysis
  • Strong skills in managing budgets and conducting research to resolve financial challenges
  • Expertise in budget processes, including annual operating budget development and management
  • Ability to monitor approved budgets to ensure compliance and financial effectiveness
