Join the MGH Institute of Health Professions as a Budget Analyst, where you'll collaborate with leaders to drive strategic and operational success. In this hybrid role, you'll enhance financial models, support multi-year forecasting, and play a key part in shaping the Institute's future.
Job Responsibility:
Budget development – 40%
Financial modeling & analysis – 30%
System support – 20%
Collaboration and Communication – 10%
Support the development of the Institute's annual operating process in Strata
Provide technical and analytical support throughout the budget cycle to cost center managers
Review departmental budget submissions in Strata to ensure alignment with institutional priorities
Consolidate data, develop analyses, and prepare materials for Budget Committee discussions
Facilitate capital budget development
Prepare multi-year financial plans in Strata
Ensure Adaptive Insights Employee model is accurate and up to date
Meet cost center managers on regular basis and act as an advisor
Provide monthly revenue and expense analysis
Work closely with departments on reviewing the scorecard and variance analysis in Strata
Train new cost center managers
Perform financial analyses
Develop ad-hoc financial models
Train users on Strata modules and available reports
Maintain the Strata budget model
Ensure accuracy of financial data and troubleshoot system issues
Support budget system upgrades, testing, and process improvements
Timely update in Adaptive Insights
Serve as a budget liaison for departments and program leaders
Promote financial literacy
Participate in cross-functional planning or process improvement teams
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with major in accounting or finance
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a higher education environment within a college or university setting preferred
3-5 years of analytical experience, knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
self-motivated, resourceful, and able to take initiative
excellent interpersonal skills, including strong customer service orientation
ability to work effectively as member of team
Must have strong strategic and analytical ability
Strong computer skills, advanced use of Excel
Knowledge of Workday and Strata is desirable
Knowledge of database programs such as Adaptive Insights, and Datatel desirable
