Job Description:

The BSA/AML Principal Business Accountability Specialist serves as a pivotal figure in ensuring the bank's adherence to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards, and OFAC sanctions regulations. This role supports all facets of financial crimes risk across consumer lending including credit card, auto, home, personal loans, retail services, and merchant services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Advise business leaders on BSA/AML/OFAC matters
  • Support business engagement in comprehensive risk assessments
  • Evaluate, design, and enhance risk controls
  • Develop and maintain robust policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Monitor regulatory developments and support audit and examination readiness
  • Provide ongoing training and establish clear escalation paths
  • Engage with analytics and operations teams to support risk identification and transaction monitoring
  • Oversee collection and continuous improvement of compliance documentation

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of risk management, business controls, quality assurance, business operations, compliance, or process experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related discipline
  • 5-7 years of experience in BSA/AML compliance, financial crimes risk management, or regulatory affairs within consumer lending
  • Comprehensive understanding of BSA/AML/OFAC regulations and industry best practices
  • Experience with risk assessments, control testing, and regulatory reporting
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills

Nice to have:

  • CAMS or CRCM certification
  • Experience with transaction monitoring systems, customer due diligence (CDD), and suspicious activity reporting (SAR)
  • Proven ability to navigate regulatory expectations from key agencies such as OCC, CFPB, and FinCEN
  • Strong track record of remediating regulatory findings and enhancing program maturity
