Job Description

We are seeking a Broodstock Supervisor to join our Freshwater team in Northampton, NB. Our Northampton facility is an Atlantic salmon broodstock site located near Woodstock, NB. The facility employs full-time staff to support year-round salmon egg production and includes an intake system, flow-through tanks, and multiple RAS egg incubation systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Daily care, performance monitoring, and welfare of salmon broodstock
  • Support high-quality egg production through effective husbandry and spawning operations
  • Strong biosecurity practices
  • Accurate data collection and reporting
  • Supervise, support, and train hatchery technicians during broodstock and spawning activities
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare, health and safety, and environmental standards

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience in salmon or trout broodstock management and/or hatchery operations
  • Degree in aquaculture, fisheries, or a related field (considered an asset)
  • Strong practical fish handling and spawning experience
  • Solid understanding of fish welfare, biosecurity, and water quality management
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence with record-keeping
  • Ability to lead by example and work effectively in a hands-on role
  • Experience with data collection and document management
  • Well-developed English verbal and written communication
  • Physical ability to complete repetitive tasks and handle up to 25kg of material
  • Self-motivated and able to work well in a team environment
  • Commitment to safe work practices and animal welfare
  • Flexibility to meet operational demands
