Job Description:

The Briquetter/Overhead Crane position operates the baler and the overhead crane. Operates industrial truck to perform transportation assignments in designated locations according to prescribed method. Identify and transport material to and from storage areas, cars, or trucks, machines, and loading docks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operates the baler and the overhead crane
  • Operates industrial truck to perform transportation assignments
  • Identify and transport material to and from storage areas, cars, or trucks, machines, and loading docks
  • Identify many types, sizes and labels of finished or in process products
  • Familiarize self with productive capacity of machines or lines
  • Collect scrap and/or spoilage and load into baler
  • Operate baler, remove jams and compacted scrap
  • Clean and lubricate baler
  • Load bales of scrap on return pallets
  • Weigh and mark scrap pallets
  • Keep records
  • Use hand trucks or dollies, work savers or similar powered vehicles
  • Use hand or automatic strapping equipment
  • Handle and pile skids, pallets or drums
  • Stack spilled loads
  • Move and replace scrap receptacles
  • Segregate, weigh and record scrap for shipment
  • Record incoming and outgoing production and supplies
  • Load correct finished product into trailers
  • Insert and fill air bags
  • Install wood dunnage and material in trailers per loading specs
  • Receive incoming material to proper storage or use location
  • Notify supervisors of incidents or malfunctions
  • Operate equipment and assist production as directed
  • Make routine inspections of lift trucks
  • Add lubrication and coolant or service batteries
  • Handle dock board, packages, bracing and strapping
  • Use tools for bracing trucks and cars

Requirements:

  • Able to stand for a long duration of time in excess of 8 hours a day
  • Ability to pass the Ramsay Basic Skills Test test at 65% or higher
  • Able to bend and rotate body repeatedly
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Exposure to heat, cold, vibrations, odors, fumes and loud noise
  • Able to perform fine manipulations with hands
  • Able to climb stairs frequently
  • Able to visually differentiate colors
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, holidays and night shifts
