An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Breast Imaging to join a well-established radiology service in South East England. The successful candidate will join a large and supportive consultant team, contributing to both general radiology and breast imaging services. The role offers opportunities to develop subspecialty interests, participate in service development, and engage in teaching, audit, and quality improvement within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment.
Job Responsibility
Provide high-quality radiology services, including breast imaging and general radiology reporting
Interpret imaging across modalities, including CT, MRI, and breast imaging investigations
Participate in the radiology on-call rota, including post-call review and quality assurance of imaging
Support weekend imaging services, including urgent MRI reporting (e.g., malignant cord compression)
Contribute to quality assurance processes by reviewing and validating imaging reports
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including breast MDTs and wider clinical services
Participate in the development and improvement of radiology services
Engage in teaching and supervision of radiology trainees and other healthcare professionals
Contribute to audit, clinical governance, and continuous professional development activities
Requirements
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR or equivalent)
Extensive experience in General Radiology, including CT and MRI reporting
Experience in breast imaging and related diagnostic procedures
Experience working within NHS radiology services
Minimum 1 year of NHS experience
Strong diagnostic and reporting skills across imaging modalities
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Leadership capability within a clinical service environment
Ability to contribute to service development and innovation
Understanding of clinical audit and governance principles
Commitment to teaching and training of junior staff and students
Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
Professional, collaborative, and proactive approach to work
Strong organisational and time management skills

Higher degree (MD or equivalent)
Additional postgraduate qualifications or diplomas
Fellowship or subspecialty training in Breast Radiology or related field
Experience in clinical research, publications, or audit projects
