Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Breast Imaging to join a large, progressive and supportive Imaging Department in the East Midlands. This is a substantive cross-site appointment within a well-established department comprising over 50 Consultant Radiologists and 18 Speciality Registrars. The successful candidate will support the expansion of imaging services across acute and community diagnostic centres. Applicants must demonstrate at least 1 year of NHS experience.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide a comprehensive diagnostic imaging service, including: Breast Imaging (symptomatic and screening), General radiology reporting, Gynae imaging (where appropriate)
  • Participate in Breast and Gynae oncology MDT meetings
  • Take full and independent responsibility for patient care in accordance with the agreed job plan
  • Contribute to the Diagnostic Radiology Consultant on-call rota (1:10 or 1:16)
  • Support and supervise Speciality Registrars and junior doctors
  • Actively participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including Radiology Academy sessions
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, risk management and quality improvement initiatives
  • Engage in research activity where appropriate and support evidence-based practice
  • Provide reciprocal consultant cover during periods of leave
  • Participate fully in annual appraisal, revalidation and CPD requirements
  • Contribute to service development, protocol implementation and innovation within the department

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • FRCR (or equivalent)
  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
  • On GMC Specialist Register for Radiology (or within 6 months of CCT at interview)
  • Demonstrable competency in: General radiology reporting, Breast and Gynae imaging, Breast oncology MDT participation
  • Current/recent NHS experience (minimum 1 year)
  • Higher degree (MD/PhD/MSc)
  • Additional subspecialty interest
  • Experience in service development or leadership roles
