Job Responsibility

Performs ultrasound examinations in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements
assumes responsibility for the safe, efficient and proper operation of ultrasound equipment
performs echocardiograms only if at S EH
keeps abreast of FHS standards, protocols and procedures relating to the department
keeps skills current
demonstrates evidence of continuing education
attends department, local and national professional meetings
avails themselves of individualized learning opportunities to stay current on new procedures, equipment or information
prepares/operates a variety of diagnostic ultrasound equipment in accordance with American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) standards and department protocols
operates ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of the motion, shape and composition of blood, organs, tissues and bodily masses such as fluid accumulations

Job Responsibility

Utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses
directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans
meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images
monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort
select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians
proper assessment of the patient and their abilities to participate in ordered procedure
provides a clear explanation of the procedure including
duration, process, and what to expect following completion
verifies informed consent for and assists physician with interventional procedures
needle localization, aspiration, biopsies, and other invasive procedures
