Job Description:

The Daily Beast is seeking talented, motivated, and dependable Breaking News Interns to join our award-winning newsroom on-site in New York. Open to undergraduate juniors and seniors, graduate students and post-grads, the internship program is an exciting opportunity for emerging journalists to learn how a newsroom works while gaining hands-on experience. The roles are full-time (37.5 hours/week) for three-month periods, and will include some evening and weekend shifts. Ideal candidates are newshounds who can work quickly, write cleanly and with some flair, and both take initiative and direction.

Requirements:

  • Experience writing breaking news
  • A voracious news diet and appetite that covers politics, pop culture, power, and big issues in national and global conversations
  • Comfort meeting quick deadlines

Nice to have:

Prior knowledge of web publishing and using a content management system
