Job Description:

We are looking for a brain injury support worker to join an existing team and work with our client. This position would ideally suit an individual with a background in psychology or occupational therapy or similar due to the complex nature of the client’s needs. Our client is a 73-year-old male who sustained a traumatic brain injury. He has support 7 days a week, provided on a 1:1 basis within his home environment. He lives alone and the focus of support is to provide cognitive and psychological support, structure and enable our client to engage in essential and meaningful activities of daily living whilst managing risks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Implement the client’s rehabilitation programme as part of the package of support which involves occupational therapy, physiotherapy, neuropsychology and dietetics
  • Follow the support plan and therapy guidance strictly, ensuring a consistent approach to support and to ensure effective management of behaviours
  • Provide cognitive and psychological support, structure and enable our client to engage in essential and meaningful activities of daily living whilst managing risks
  • Attend monthly team meetings and liaise closely with the team leader and case manager

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with clients with a brain injury
  • Relevant qualification –NVQ/ care certificate/ other relevant qualification e.g. BTEC, degree
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Able to use IT for email and support worker documentation
  • Experience of working in a client’s home
  • Experience of following a rehabilitation programme
  • A full driving license is essential

Nice to have:

  • An NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • Background in psychology or occupational therapy or similar
