Conduct classroom, virtual, and on-the-job training sessions on life insurance underwriting principles and practices, facilitate onboarding programs for new underwriters and deliver refresher and advanced training modules to experienced staff
Design and update training materials, SOPs, and job aids based on business needs and regulatory updates, develop content covering medical, financial, and non-medical underwriting aspects
Train teams on underwriting guidelines, risk classification, pricing factors, and product features and ensure alignment with insurer policies and regulatory compliance requirements
Partner with underwriting managers, operations, and quality teams to align training with business goals
Track trainee performance and training effectiveness metrics
Maintain training records and compliance documentation
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or related field
5–10 years of experience in life insurance underwriting
Minimum 2–3 years in training or coaching roles (preferred)
Strong knowledge of underwriting concepts: mortality, morbidity, medical underwriting, financial underwriting
Familiarity with insurance platforms and underwriting tools
Nice to have
Certification in training (Train-the-Trainer, Learning & Development, etc.)
Experience in BPO/KPO insurance operations (if applicable)
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., IRDAI, US/UK underwriting standards)
Experience with e-learning tools and LMS platforms
