The role involves leading the Books and Records Oversight within Markets Operations, focusing on strengthening the control framework and accounting practices. The candidate will be responsible for strategic delivery, managing financial controls, overseeing accounts and reconciliation processes, handling issue management, and collaborating with Finance, Transformation teams, and other departments to maintain robust accounting practices. The ideal candidate should have significant industry expertise, leadership skills, and communication abilities.

  • ensure consistent roles and responsibilities for account population control and reconciliation requirements
  • work with teams to identify and resolve issues causing exceptions and breaks
  • ensure robust financial controls in collaboration with technology and transformation teams
  • participate in firm-wide programs related to accounting and books and records
  • represent Markets Operations at governance forums
  • strengthen issue management processes and timely escalation of emerging risks

Requirements:

  • 20+ years relevant experience
  • industry expertise in financial accounting and the operational aspects of books and records management and account management
  • experience as finance professional/background/degree
  • working experience in technology creating products setup, UAT working with Finance/Market Ops people and understanding of products
  • ability to measure and assess the impact of stress shocks including fat-tailed risks
  • well-versed in reviewing the dimensions of franchise risk
  • strong leadership skills
  • serves as a point of escalation for key issues or time-sensitive decisions
  • ability to respond to challenges with creative solutions, adapts to changing business needs
  • demonstrated ability to make sound judgment calls on issues that can be both quantitative and qualitative in nature
  • able to manage issues associated with operational risk capital, in partnership with the business, Finance, and the Risk organization
  • demonstrated skills in coaching and serving as a mentor
