We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in Bloomington, Minnesota. This role offers flexibility with part-time or ongoing hours and involves managing essential accounting functions to support the organization's financial operations.
Job Responsibility:
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accurate and timely transactions
Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and other financial records
Complete month-end close activities, ensuring all financial data is properly recorded
Prepare and file sales tax returns using Avalara, handling both quarterly and monthly filings
Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records to support audits and reporting requirements
Collaborate with team members to resolve discrepancies and improve financial workflows
Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and company policies
Provide accurate financial data and reports to support decision-making processes
Assist with other accounting tasks as needed to meet organizational goals
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or similar accounting roles
Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Experience with bank reconciliations and month-end close activities
Familiarity with sales tax preparation and filing, preferably using Avalara software
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members
Nice to have:
Working knowledge of Vertex Sales & Use Tax software
