Job Description

Our client, a mission-driven organization in the nonprofit industry, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to an organization focused on making a positive community impact.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger activity
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Process payroll or support payroll-related recordkeeping, as needed
  • Maintain records of donations, grants, and restricted funds
  • Help prepare financial reports for leadership, board meetings, and audits
  • Support budget tracking and expense monitoring
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and nonprofit accounting procedures
  • Assist with audit preparation and documentation requests

Requirements

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or general accounting experience
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting preferred
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred

Nice to have

  • Experience tracking grants, donations, or restricted funds
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial reporting requirements
  • Experience supporting audits and budget preparation
