We are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to join our team in Orinda, California. In this long-term contract position, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial operations of a non-profit organization. This role involves handling day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting payroll and billing processes.
Job Responsibility:
Process accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payment of bills
Manage tuition billing and payment collection using the organization’s billing system
Deposit checks electronically and maintain organized records of paper receipts
Record financial transactions and reconcile credit card charges using QuickBooks
Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure balanced accounts
Assist with payroll tasks, including gathering employee timecards and managing spreadsheet data
Support tax-related activities such as 990 returns and tracking 1099 forms
Set up and maintain tuition payment schedules for the upcoming fiscal year
Provide manual bookkeeping assistance as needed to ensure smooth financial operations
Requirements:
At least 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within a non-profit setting
Proficiency in QuickBooks and familiarity with account reconciliation processes
Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable procedures
Ability to work independently and maintain high attention to detail
Comfortable using billing systems and learning new financial tools
Basic understanding of payroll processes, with a willingness to adapt and learn
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple financial tasks efficiently
