We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to support day-to-day financial operations for a growing organization in California. This long-term contract opportunity begins as a part-time role at approximately 24 hours per week and is expected to become a permanent position as new projects move forward. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on accounting experience, confidence using QuickBooks Online, and the ability to maintain accurate records across payables, receivables, and project-related costs.
Job Responsibility
Manage routine bookkeeping activities with a high degree of accuracy and organization across multiple financial workflows
Maintain financial records in QuickBooks Online and help support accounting processes as the company adopts Accumatica
Process vendor and subcontractor payments promptly while keeping accounts payable records current and well documented
Monitor customer billing and collections activity to ensure accounts receivable balances are accurate and up to date
Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and maintain reliable reporting
Track project expenses and job costs to support construction-related accounting and budget visibility
Use Excel and Google Sheets to organize financial data, prepare supporting schedules, and assist with reporting needs
Collaborate with internal stakeholders in a hybrid work setting, including participation in Monday office meetings as needed
Requirements
5+ years of bookkeeping experience in a detail-oriented accounting environment
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, including experience with QuickBooks Online
Proven experience handling both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and investigate variances independently
Background in construction accounting, including job costing and subcontractor payment tracking
Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with Google Sheets for financial analysis and recordkeeping
Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a flexible hybrid or remote arrangement
