Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a non-profit organization in Spring City, Tennessee. This is a contract position offering flexible work arrangements and the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause. The successful candidate will bring at least three years of bookkeeping experience and a strong ability to manage financial records with accuracy and efficiency.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process vendor invoices, manage outgoing payments, and ensure timely payment schedules for accounts payable
  • Create and track invoices, follow up on overdue payments, and accurately record donations and other income for accounts receivable
  • Monitor incoming cash and donations, ensuring proper documentation and secure handling procedures
  • Reconcile the organization’s checking account monthly to maintain financial accuracy
  • Maintain and balance the checkbook regularly, ensuring all issued checks are properly recorded
  • Conduct general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Collaborate with the organization’s team to provide accurate financial records and assist with tax compliance and reporting responsibilities
  • Support payroll processing for up to 10 employees on a biweekly or monthly basis, ensuring timely and accurate wage disbursements
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed to support the organization’s operations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in bookkeeping or a related financial role, demonstrating attention to detail
  • Proficiency in bookkeeping software, such as QuickBooks, and strong skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven attention to detail when handling financial documentation, reconciliations, and reporting tasks
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with organizational staff and stakeholders
  • Degree or certification in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with non-profit financial operations is a plus
  • Ability to work onsite three days a week with a flexible schedule determined by mutual agreement.
