We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a team in Maryland in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position will support day-to-day financial operations with a focus on accurate transaction processing, organized recordkeeping, and timely follow-up across payables, receivables, and billing activities. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, a methodical work style, and hands-on experience using accounting software to keep accounting processes running smoothly.
Job Responsibility:
Manage daily bookkeeping activities by recording financial transactions accurately and maintaining complete, well-organized accounting records
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including reviewing invoices, tracking outstanding items, and supporting timely payment collection
Enter vendor and other incoming invoices with a high level of accuracy and consistency
Prepare and submit insurance billing documentation while monitoring account activity and resolving billing-related discrepancies
Reconcile bank and account balances regularly to confirm that financial records are complete and up to date
Support purchase order and point-of-sale related recordkeeping to help maintain accurate financial data across transactions
Investigate variances, research account issues, and solve routine bookkeeping problems in a timely manner
Requirements:
Prior experience in bookkeeping with working knowledge of both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Hands-on proficiency in accounting softwares
Experience entering invoices, including vendor invoices, with strong accuracy and attention to detail
Familiarity with insurance billing processes and related documentation requirements
Ability to perform account and bank reconciliations and identify discrepancies effectively
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain reliable records
Analytical mindset with sound problem-solving skills for researching and resolving financial issues
