We are looking for a meticulous and organized Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards in a non-profit environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing transactions, reconciling accounts, and producing reports to support informed decision-making.
Job Responsibility:
Record and manage daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, invoices, and receipts
Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger and categorize financial data appropriately
Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other internal accounts regularly
Process payroll or assist in payroll preparation based on organizational needs
Generate and maintain detailed financial reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow analyses
Support month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Prepare documentation and assist during audits to maintain compliance
Monitor vendor payments, collections, and outstanding balances to ensure timely transactions
Collaborate with internal teams and external accountants to address and resolve financial discrepancies
Uphold compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related financial role
Proficiency in accounting tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Xero, or similar software
Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation processes
Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in financial tasks
Effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities
Ability to manage sensitive financial information with discretion and confidentiality
Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices is a plus
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with internal and external stakeholders
