We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support client accounting operations in San Francisco, California. This is a Contract position suited for someone who can manage day-to-day financial activities, maintain accurate records, and communicate confidently with clients and internal accounting partners. The ideal candidate brings hands-on bookkeeping experience, strong accounting judgment, and comfort working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and analyze financial reports for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
Coordinate daily bookkeeping activities, keeping client records organized, current, and compliant with established standards
Process invoices and support payment execution while monitoring accounts payable and receivable activity
Perform bank and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently
Partner with accounting colleagues to address financial questions, align on deliverables, and support smooth operations
Communicate directly with clients to gather financial documentation, clarify account activity, and address bookkeeping concerns
Record journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy as part of routine month-end and ongoing accounting work
Requirements
2+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
Solid understanding of core accounting principles, including journal entries and general ledger activity
Proficiency with QuickBooks and Bill.com in a business setting
Experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation tasks
Background working in a client-facing accounting or bookkeeping environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments with accuracy
