We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support daily financial operations for a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Glen Burnie, Maryland. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, coordinating billing activity, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with QuickBooks, Excel-based reporting, and core bookkeeping functions across receivables, reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
Job Responsibility
Maintain accurate financial records by processing daily bookkeeping transactions and ensuring supporting documentation is complete and organized
Record journal entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with month-end and year-end close activities to support timely and accurate reporting
Oversee accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, billing follow-up, and communication with clients to clarify account questions
Provide backup support for accounts payable tasks, helping ensure vendor payments and related records are handled correctly when needed
Use Microsoft Excel to export, review, and manipulate reports for analysis, account review, and reporting support
Update financial information in QuickBooks and related systems to maintain accurate accounting and operational records
Communicate with clients as needed to resolve discrepancies, gather missing details, and support accurate transaction processing
Requirements
3+ years of bookkeeping experience in a hands-on accounting environment
Working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and general day-to-day accounting operations
Experience preparing journal entries and supporting both month-end close and year-end closing activities
Proficiency in bank reconciliations, account reconciliation, and maintaining accurate financial records
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including exporting data and manipulating reports for review and analysis
Experience using QuickBooks in a business accounting setting
High level of accuracy, organization, and follow-through when managing financial data, inventory records, and contract details
