We are looking for a dependable Bookkeeper to support the daily financial operations of a construction company in California. This fully onsite role is a contract opportunity with permanent potential for someone who enjoys keeping records organized, transactions accurate, and accounting processes running smoothly. The person in this position will work across core bookkeeping functions while partnering with internal teams to help maintain clear financial visibility and timely reporting.
Job Responsibility
Oversee daily accounting activity by recording transactions accurately and keeping financial data current within QuickBooks Online
Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing vendor bills, coordinating approvals, and preparing payments in a timely manner
Handle accounts receivable tasks by issuing customer invoices, monitoring aging balances, and following up on outstanding payments
Complete regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure financial records align with statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation to strengthen audit readiness and internal recordkeeping
Use Bill.com to administer invoice routing, payment workflows, and approval processing for vendor transactions
Build and update Excel-based schedules, financial trackers, and reports using formulas, pivot tables, and other advanced functions
Contribute to month-end close activities, financial reporting, and job cost tracking in support of project managers and company leadership
Follow established accounting procedures and assist with additional finance-related projects as business needs evolve
Requirements
At least 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience in a business environment that requires strong attention to detail
Prior experience in the construction industry is preferred, especially in roles involving project-related financial activity
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online is required for recording and reconciling day-to-day transactions
Experience using Bill.com is required
Strong Excel capabilities, including working with formulas, pivot tables, and detailed spreadsheets
Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation processes
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced onsite setting
Nice to have
