We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This part-time position involves working three days a week to support a local school in La Jolla, California. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing financial tasks and maintaining accurate records to ensure smooth operations.
Job Responsibility:
Process and manage accounts payable, including invoice handling, approval workflows, and payment preparation
Oversee accounts receivable activities such as tuition tracking, generating invoices, and managing collections
Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and credit cards to ensure accuracy
Record and maintain general ledger entries and journal entries with precision
Support month-end close procedures and ensure compliance with financial deadlines
Maintain organized financial records in accordance with school policies
Prepare and deliver financial reports for school leadership as required
Utilize QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online to manage and update accounting records efficiently
Requirements:
Minimum of three years of experience in bookkeeping
Proficiency in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Skilled in performing bank reconciliations and creating accurate journal entries
Experience with month-end closing procedures
Advanced knowledge and practical use of QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in financial documentation
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Nice to have:
Prior experience in a school or nonprofit environment is preferred but not mandatory
