We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a long-term remote contract opportunity. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting accounts payable and payroll processes, and ensuring compliance with federal and government grant requirements. This position requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to help streamline and enhance financial operations.
Job Responsibility:
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, including addressing past discrepancies and maintaining accurate records moving forward
Conduct vendor reviews to ensure accurate documentation, including verifying W-9 forms and maintaining up-to-date records
Reconcile opening and closing balances in the accounting system to identify and resolve discrepancies
Enter payroll transactions and corrections into the general ledger
Record and manage daily or bi-weekly bank transactions to support effective cash flow management
Support grant record updates in the accounting system by locating, uploading, and completing necessary documentation
Provide assistance with accounts payable processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
Perform miscellaneous financial management tasks to ensure smooth operations
Requirements:
Proven experience in nonprofit bookkeeping, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
Proficiency in bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software
Strong understanding of federal and government grant compliance requirements
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Experience conducting vendor reviews and maintaining complete documentation
Solid knowledge of payroll processes and general ledger entries
