We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a dynamic team in White Plains, New York. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a full spectrum of bookkeeping operations, with a focus on construction accounting practices. The ideal candidate will have experience with Sage accounting software and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and organization.
Job Responsibility:
Handle all general ledger operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and the month-end/year-end closing process
Manage job costing, progress billing, and retention tracking for construction projects
Process payroll accurately, including calculating prevailing wages and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
Prepare and submit sales and use tax filings along with other required government reports
Generate detailed financial statements and provide management with timely financial analysis
Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, expenses, and adherence to contract terms
Maintain organized records for vendor contracts, insurance certificates, and lien releases
Coordinate with external accountants or tax professionals during audits or annual financial reviews
Establish and maintain effective accounting controls and implement best practices
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience as a full charge bookkeeper within the construction industry
Strong proficiency in Sage accounting software, such as Sage 100 Contractor or Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate
Comprehensive understanding of construction accounting, including job costing and progress billing
Solid knowledge of payroll processing and certified payroll reporting requirements
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on accuracy and clarity
High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
Nice to have:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
