We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support accounting operations for an organization in the accountancy industry in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage core financial records with accuracy, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and work independently with limited supervision. The role will focus on maintaining reliable books, supporting reporting activities, and helping ensure day-to-day financial transactions are completed on time. *Please note this is an in-office role in Chattanooga, Tennessee*
Job Responsibility
Maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions and keeping bookkeeping data current and organized
Process vendor invoices, payment activity, and customer billing while monitoring both payables and receivables for timeliness and accuracy
Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve outstanding items promptly
Assist with monthly and year-end closing activities by preparing supporting schedules and ensuring financial data is complete
Generate routine financial reports and analyze account activity to provide clear, accurate information for business decisions
Use QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel to manage accounting data, track transactions, and support reporting needs
Help coordinate payroll-related recordkeeping and related financial documentation when needed
Prioritize multiple assignments effectively and adjust to changing business needs while maintaining strong attention to detail
Requirements
At least 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience in a business environment
Practical experience working with QuickBooks for daily accounting and recordkeeping functions
Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliation processes
Strong understanding of both accrual-based and cash-based accounting methods
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications at an intermediate to advanced level
Experience supporting month-end and year-end close activities with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to work independently, stay highly organized, and manage shifting priorities effectively
Nice to have
Associate degree or higher in Accounting or Business is preferred
