We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team in Columbia, South Carolina. This Contract to permanent position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in financial operations and reconciliation. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing accounts, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy across financial systems.
Job Responsibility:
Record incoming payments in accounting and loan servicing software, ensuring accuracy and timely updates
Scan and deposit paper checks into the bank while maintaining proper documentation
Reconcile daily receipt of funds between servicing systems and accounting software, resolving discrepancies as needed
Prepare daily monetary movements and provide detailed income reports to management
Supervise weekly accounts payable entries and reconcile escrow disbursements to QuickBooks disbursements
Complete monthly investor reports, reconciling collections and escrow accounts for clients with multiple accounts
Verify fees and entries to ensure alignment between loan servicing software, deposits, and investor accounts
Assist with bank reconciliations and support monthly reporting processes
Respond to inquiries from investors, servicing departments, and customers regarding payments and account adjustments
Facilitate the onboarding and closing of client accounts, ensuring proper documentation and communication
Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, demonstrating expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation
Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software
Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve discrepancies and ensure data integrity
Excellent organizational and time management abilities to meet deadlines
Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, investors, and internal teams
Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and professionalism
