Job Description:

The town of Essex Board of Health seeks a qualified applicant to fill the position of Administrative Clerk. The applicant should be an energetic, self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as high attention to detail. This is a full time (36.5 hours per week) union position. This position will provide administrative support for Board of Health Administrator, Plumbing/Gas and Electrical Inspectors and other Town personnel, as directed by the Board of Health and its Administrator. Municipal and clerical experience is preferred. A pre-employment physical and drug test is required.

  • Coordinates interactions with employees of the Board of County Commissioners, Constitutional Officers, and the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller on all matters related to financial, accounting, budgeting, and purchasing activities
  • Responsible for ensuring that Manatee County’s accounting, budgeting, procurement, and fiscal policies and procedures are efficient, effective, transparent, and fiscally responsible
  • Develops and recommends financial management policies to the County Administrator and the Board of County Commissioners and directs coordination of financial interactions with Constitutional Officers as required
  • Directs preparation of the County’s annual budget document
  • Assists departments and offices in preparing, administering, and monitoring their budgets
  • Reviews and analyzes departmental budget requests and revisions and makes recommendations
  • Directs the revenue estimating process and forecasts future revenues and expenditures
  • Schedules all budget preparation activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, rules, and procedures
  • Directs preparation of budget amendments and revisions for consideration by the Board of County Commissioners
  • Monitors budget reports and prepares reports and special studies as appropriate
