Job Description:

A fantastic opportunity is available for a Biomedical Scientist to join a reputable Microbiology department in West London, working with one of the UK’s top private healthcare providers. This permanent post offers a structured career path and the chance to work with advanced diagnostic systems.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform diagnostic tests including bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, and virology using both culture and molecular techniques
  • Process and analyse clinical samples from a range of specimen types (e.g., swabs, urines, bloods)
  • Operate and maintain microbiology analysers and automated systems (e.g., MALDI-TOF, PCR platforms)
  • Ensure compliance with infection control procedures and UKAS ISO 15189 standards
  • Take part in audits, IQC/EQA schemes, and contribute to the development of SOPs.

Requirements:

  • HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist (Microbiology discipline)
  • Strong post-registration experience in a clinical microbiology lab
  • Confident in processing and interpreting microbiological cultures and rapid diagnostics
  • Familiar with LIMS and electronic reporting systems
  • Motivated, collaborative, and committed to continual learning and service excellence.
