Requirements

HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist (Microbiology discipline)
Strong post-registration experience in a clinical microbiology lab
Confident in processing and interpreting microbiological cultures and rapid diagnostics
Familiar with LIMS and electronic reporting systems
Motivated, collaborative, and committed to continual learning and service excellence.

Job Responsibility

Perform diagnostic tests including bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, and virology using both culture and molecular techniques
Process and analyse clinical samples from a range of specimen types (e.g., swabs, urines, bloods)
Operate and maintain microbiology analysers and automated systems (e.g., MALDI-TOF, PCR platforms)
Ensure compliance with infection control procedures and UKAS ISO 15189 standards
Take part in audits, IQC/EQA schemes, and contribute to the development of SOPs.
