Valid CORU registration
Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year in service training across all disciplines
Experience in Blood Transfusion essential
Post qualification experience desirable
Have partaken in on-call rotas desirable

Job Responsibility

Assist in routine processing and co-ordinating the Laboratory service
Ability to also work in Haematology
Perform laboratory tests and responsible for processing and authorising under direction of Chief Medical Scientist and Laboratory Manager

Job Responsibility

General and specialist analysis of samples received in Blood Sciences, on a rotational basis throughout all sections of Haematology and Blood Transfusion
Authorise clinical results in accordance with defined turnaround times
Perform maintenance, calibrations and quality control checks on analytical equipment, following suitable training
Rotate through all benches within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections
Engage with quality management system (NCNs, audits, etc) and to maintain accreditation under UKAS ISO 15189 standards
Contribute to the departmental out of hours shift rota
Operate in a manner which is respectful and professional
Adhere to Trust policies for health and safety and patient confidentiality
Engage with the departmental training programme for each task
