Job Description:

The role is a critical biomedical research engineer position, driving and supporting cross functional efforts to bring Resmed’s products and services to market. You will have the opportunity to get involved and be responsible for your own work activity across the various project offerings. Above all your ability to work autonomously, flexibly and deliver results will ensure your success in this role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contributing to the research and development of biomedical algorithms
  • Supporting exploration of novel digital signal processing (DSP) and machine learning (ML/AI) techniques for physiological sensing
  • Analysing sensor data to generate insights that inform product design
  • Documenting, testing, and preparing algorithms for integration into software systems
  • Collaborating with a cross-functional team (software, systems, V&V, medical affairs, product management) to build and refine solutions
  • Participating in technical discussions with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Communicating results, limitations, and risks clearly and constructively
  • Supporting the ideation of new technology and IP generation
  • Assisting in defining scope, requirements, and test plans for technical workstreams
  • Providing input to verification/validation efforts, especially involving data analysis and algorithm performance

Requirements:

  • Masters/PhD in Electronic/Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or cognate field is preferred
  • 2 - 5 years’ experience in algorithm development
  • Experience in delivering algorithms to target products – preferably development of bio-medical algorithms for monitoring of physiological parameters for medical and/or consumer applications (such as biometrics, wearables, non-contact sensing)
  • Deep knowledge of DSP, maths, statistics and machine learning
  • Previous experience with Matlab/Python scientific stack (eg. numpy, scikit learn) and deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow), preferably in the following areas: time series biomedical signals, time-frequency analysis, feature engineering and classifiers
  • Demonstrate contribution to research, e.g., publications of research in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience with version control tools and processes (e.g. Git, SVN, JIRA)
  • Experience working with business stakeholders, product development teams and/or with other developers
  • Experience in contributing to an IP portfolio, e.g., writing supporting documentation for patent applications

Nice to have:

Experience in analysis various sensing modalities (e.g. PPG, ECG, EEG, acoustics) would be beneficial
