SCB has an exciting opportunity for an Architectural BIM Specialist / Architectural Designer to be located on-site in the San Francisco office. This individual will directly support project teams with planning and implementing digital workflows across all design phases. Working under the direction of the firm-wide digital design leader, this role is part of a collaborative Technical Design team that drives quality management and continuous improvement across the firm. The ideal candidate for this technical position is proactive and interested in how to best leverage technology to support the design process and project delivery. They are flexible and team-oriented with good communication skills and comfortable working across multiple projects and offices. There is flexibility in the position description, and SCB will consider those interested in a full-time BIM Specialist role, as well as architectural graduates who wish to continue in a hybrid role between Digital Design and Architecture.
Job Responsibility:
Provide BIM-focused digital design support and strategic guidance to architectural teams, with a focus on projects based in the San Francisco office
Contribute to complex project types including aviation, multi-family housing, campus environments, and mixed-use developments
Assist with Revit project setup, standards implementation, model quality reviews, and BIM coordination with consultants and external teams
Collaborate directly with project teams to troubleshoot Revit-related issues and provide technical recommendations for modeling and documentation
Support teams using a range of design, scripting, and analysis tools
evaluate emerging software and lead pilot initiatives
Partner with studio teams and the firm-wide digital design leader with a positive, team first attitude and willingness to learn
Work with the Technical Design and I.T. groups to advance strategic goals and firm-wide initiatives, including BIM standards, user guides, Revit templates, and 2D/3D digital content development
Requirements:
A professional degree in architecture, engineering, or construction technology
3 or more years of post graduate architectural or related experience, with a specific focus on BIM and digital technologies used by architecture firms
Proficiency in Revit is required
familiarity with AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, and scripting tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper) is preferred
Working knowledge of performance analysis tools (Insight, Forma, Ladybug), visualization software (Enscape), and coordination platforms (ACC, Navisworks, Revizto)
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage Revit modeling and documentation workflows. Able to lead new project setup, perform model quality and health reviews, create and modify custom Revit families, and support BIM coordination efforts
Experience with managing Revit projects in BIM360/ACC and coordinating model exchanges
Familiar with developing a BIM Execution Plan and LOD Matrix
Understanding of the typical architectural design phases, project delivery methods, and their impact on BIM processes
Interest in digital innovation and emerging technologies in the design practice
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively
