Job Responsibility:
Own the full billing cycle for assigned attorneys, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of client invoices
Monitor unbilled time and expenses, proactively resolving discrepancies and keeping billing current
Manage eBilling submissions, including uploading invoices, troubleshooting rejections, and tracking approvals
Collaborate closely with attorneys and clients to address billing questions and ensure invoices reflect agreed‑upon terms
Prepare ad hoc billing reports and financial summaries to support attorney teams and leadership
Identify and implement enhancements that streamline billing workflows and improve accuracy
Maintain thorough documentation of all billing activities, work-in-progress adjustments, and billing guidelines
Utilize tools like Microsoft Excel and eBilling platforms to analyze data and improve invoice processing
Stay composed and organized while handling urgent billing requests and tight deadlines
Assist with occasional light office tasks, such as retrieving files or distributing supplies
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline. (Equivalent professional experience will be considered in place of a degree.)
5+ years of hands‑on billing experience, ideally within a law firm or other professional services environment
exposure to A/R or collections is beneficial but not required.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
Proactive and adaptable, comfortable working independently in a fast‑moving environment where priorities can shift quickly.
Confident, professional presence with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and clients—including those in remote locations.
Tech‑savvy, with solid proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Experience with e‑billing systems and familiarity with accounting or practice‑management software
Aderant experience is preferred.
Exceptional organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to maintain thorough, detailed records while managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Ability to stay composed under tight deadlines, collaborating effectively with internal teams to meet time‑sensitive billing needs.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow instructions and communicate respectfully and professionally with a diverse group of attorneys, staff, and vendors.
