We are looking for an experienced Billing Clerk to join a construction-focused team in Michigan. The person in this role will support project-related billing, maintain documentation tied to contracts, and work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve payment and invoice issues.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and issue progress invoices for construction projects using established billing guidelines and customer requirements
Review contract-related paperwork to confirm billing support documents are complete, current, and properly aligned with invoicing activity
Administer lien waiver documentation and ensure required records are collected, tracked, and submitted on time
Investigate and resolve invoice differences by comparing billing details, contract terms, and project information
Partner with project managers and other internal team members to gather billing data and maintain accurate customer invoicing
Maintain billing statements and system records to support timely collections and clear account status reporting
Monitor computerized billing activity for accuracy and follow up on missing information that could delay invoicing
Assist with billing process updates or system-related changes when needed as part of ongoing operational support
Requirements
Previous experience in a billing role, preferably within the construction industry
Working knowledge of AIA billing procedures and related documentation requirements
Familiarity with contract billing, progress invoicing, and supporting financial records
Experience handling lien waivers, billing statements, and billing reconciliation tasks
Proficiency with computerized billing systems and standard business software
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct discrepancies efficiently
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with project managers and internal teams
