We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Clerk to join our dynamic accounting team in Albany, New York. In this role, you will play a key part in managing and finalizing client billing processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of financial documentation. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate with various professionals and contribute to the seamless operation of the billing department.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare, edit, and scan prebills for client review and approval
Make necessary adjustments to finalize bills, including monitoring write-offs and other billing modifications
Assist with reconciling billing discrepancies in a timely manner
Collaborate on month-end closing processes to ensure accurate financial reporting
Utilize legal accounting software, such as SurePoint, to streamline billing functions
Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with organizational billing standards
Communicate effectively with attorneys and team members to resolve billing inquiries
Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) accounts and ensure proper adjustments are applied
Contribute to the overall efficiency of the billing department by identifying areas for process improvement
Requirements:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Familiarity with legal accounting software
experience with SurePoint is preferred
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task effectively
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across various levels of the organization
Capacity to work independently while demonstrating teamwork and adaptability
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or associate’s degree in accounting with 1-2 years of relevant experience
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliation processes
Understanding of month-end closing procedures and financial reporting
