We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in Edgewater, Maryland. In this role, you will ensure timely and accurate billing processes while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This position requires a proactive individual, skilled in Medicaid and behavioral health billing, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values teamwork.
Job Responsibility:
Generate and submit claims for services provided, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Monitor accounts receivable and address outstanding balances promptly
Prepare weekly billing statements and follow up on denials and reimbursement issues
Manually post and allocate payments to appropriate accounts
Maintain compliance with billing regulations and organizational standards
Compile reports and perform reconciliations for monthly financial close
Create and manage authorization lists for services
Support annual audits and assist in budget preparation processes
Attend mandatory billing-related trainings and organizational meetings
Collaborate effectively with diverse teams to ensure seamless billing operations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
associate degree or equivalent experience will be considered
Prior experience in billing operations is required
Familiarity with Medicaid billing processes, especially within behavioral health or human services, is highly preferred
Strong proficiency in computerized billing systems and related software
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
Compliance with required background checks, drug testing, and health screenings
