The Bilingual Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education(CLDE) Itinerant Teacher demonstrates a strong knowledge of language acquisition and strategies to support and scaffold grade level curriculum and content while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effectively managing the learning environment. They model and use high leverage strategies to support language development and build capacity in others to do the same. Under the direction and assignment of the Director of CLDE, this position serves designated schools across the district on both short-term and long-term assignments, providing instructional coverage, capacity-building support, and program expertise where needed.
Job Responsibility:
Facilitate learning experiences and teach the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum
utilize innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students
plan and develop an engaging, age-appropriate course of study
utilize a Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning
assess student proficiency using formal and informal assessment tools
differentiate assessments based on individual needs
provide timely feedback and targeted interventions
report grades
assist with assessments and the collection of bodies of evidence to identify, progress monitor, and ultimately redesignate Emerging Bilingual students
lead the review of data to ensure that students have access to grade level content
assist teachers, administrators, and families in understanding how data reflects students' language development and on-going progress
create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that reflects students’ cultures and identities while reinforcing clear behavioral expectations
implement routines that maximize learning time, address behavior using restorative practices, and engage families as partners in their child’s education
model culturally and linguistically responsive strategies
create and support others in developing a culture of equity and inclusion
understand and identify barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students
build strong, trusting partnerships with families by maintaining proactive, two-way communication about student progress and collaborating with significant adults in students’ lives
reduce language and cultural barriers to engagement
demonstrate a growth mindset through ongoing professional learning, reflective goal setting, and continuous improvement of instructional practices
use expertise in CLDE to mentor colleagues and contribute to staff development
engage in reflective, student-centered collaboration with colleagues to ensure meaningful inclusion and extension opportunities for multilingual learners
partner with school administrators, teachers, and CLDE staff to promote shared expectations, elevate diverse voices, and strengthen instructional practices
uphold ethical, professional conduct in all relationships, decisions, and collaborative work
supervise students in the classroom, halls, recess, before/after school duty, etc.
enforce safety and security standards set by the District
follow State legal requirements, negotiated agreement, and District and building policies and procedures
perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with the appropriate endorsement in CLDE or CLDE Bilingual
Completed and submitted BVSD online application
Bilingual and Biliterate skills in Spanish/English (must successfully complete and pass bilingual assessment)
Must earn a READ Act Designation if providing literacy instruction

Knowledge of and deep belief in inclusion in the general education classroom for all students, including those on an IEP and/or learning English
