Chief Aerospace Safety Office’s (CASO) Boeing Global Services (BGS) Safety Team is seeking a System Safety Engineering Manager (Level K) to lead our BGS-G Safety Engineering Team, focused on providing system safety engineering capability for the BGS Government (BGS-G) portfolio. The position will be based in either Berkeley (St Louis), MO or Hazelwood, MO. At Boeing Global Services Safety, our BGS-G safety team is committed to operationalizing system safety and providing System Safety Engineering capability for the BGS portfolio of government (Defense) products and services. We deliver exceptional System Safety Engineering capability and innovative solutions which prioritize product and services safety, mission assurance, and operational excellence. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of safety professionals and oversee safety initiatives across all of BGS's government programs, including F/A-18, F-15, F-22, C-17, AH-64, CH-47, KC-135, KC-46, and numerous other defense platforms and related products. Your expertise will also extend to critical government services engineering efforts related to fleet in-service / sustainment support, fleet modernization, support equipment, and training, ensuring that our fleets maintain the highest safety and reliability standards for our defense customers. As a leader of the BGS-G Safety team, you will collaborate with a wide array of cross-functional teams and leaders to develop and implement comprehensive safety strategies which align with Boeing's commitment to excellence and innovation.
Job Responsibility
Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Systems Engineering
Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals
Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct report personnel
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes
Manages, develops, and motivates employees
Requirements
Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course 'Exploring Leadership.'
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
Experience performing system safety tasks in accordance with MIL-STD-882, SAE ARP4761, or equivalent
Nice to have
Experience performing systems engineering activities in full systems engineering lifecycle
Aircraft Certification experience
Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in an aerospace environment
Experience in analyzing technical data and providing clear written and verbal presentation of the results
Experience in the aerospace and defense industry
Experience with commercial airplanes or commercial derivatives
