Job Description:

A professional services client in Boston, MA, is looking to hire a Benefits & Payroll Director to strategically lead and manage the company’s benefits and payroll programs. They are seeking a candidate who is well versed in both benefits & payroll, has direct management experience, and is systems savvy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented HR team and play an important role in shaping future offerings.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and develop high-performing payroll and benefits teams while partnering with senior leadership to set long-term Total Rewards strategy
  • Design, implement, and administer comprehensive benefits programs including health, retirement, wellness, and leave of absence plans
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight of enterprise-wide payroll for a large, diverse workforce, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with benefits programs
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., FLSA, ACA, ERISA, HIPAA), leading audits, reconciliations, and year-end reporting
  • Optimize HRIS and payroll platforms, manage vendor and broker relationships, oversee budgets and open enrollment, and drive continuous process improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8+ years of benefits & payroll experience with increasing responsibility, including serving in a strategic leadership role
  • Well-versed in HRIS and payroll software (ADP preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and negotiate offerings, resulting in a cost-effective, high-quality benefits program
  • People management experience required
  • Professional services experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication & presentation skills
