Job Description

Master Technology Group (MTG) specializes in designing, installing, and servicing commercial property technologies across local and national markets. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Eden Prairie, MN. The Benefits Generalist is responsible for the administration, compliance, communication, and continuous improvement of MTG's employee benefits programs. This role plays a key part in supporting employees through benefits enrollment, leave administration, and Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML) processes while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policies. The Benefits Generalist partners closely with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, leadership, and external benefits partners to deliver a high level of employee service and operational support. In addition to benefits administration, this position assists with payroll processing, onboarding, employee support, company events, and general office operations. This role is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented HR professional who enjoys balancing benefits expertise with broader HR and operational responsibilities in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This position reports to the Director of HR and Benefits.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the strategic direction, administration, and continuous improvement of MTG's employee benefits programs
  • Manage relationships with benefits consultants, brokers, and carriers to ensure quality service and plan performance
  • Analyze plan utilization, costs, service levels, and market competitiveness
  • provide data-driven recommendations for improvements
  • Collaborate with Finance and executive leadership to forecast benefits, costs, and prepare financial impact reports
  • Oversee annual open enrollment and conduct new hire benefits orientations
  • Process benefit enrollments, terminations, and changes with carriers
  • Reconcile monthly benefits invoices and resolve discrepancies
  • Promote employee understanding and utilization of benefits through proactive communication and engagement
  • Administer COBRA processes and ensure accurate tracking and compliance
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding the 401(k), medical plan, HRA, FSAs and other benefit programs
  • Oversee administration and tracking of all leave of absence programs, including FMLA, Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML), Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), and ADA accommodations, in coordination with HR, Payroll, and MTG's private leave carrier
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees navigating leave requests, benefits continuation, claim documentation, and return-to-work coordination
  • Partner with employees, managers, payroll, and external leave administrators to ensure a supportive and compliant leave experience
  • Ensure leave processes comply with company policies and applicable laws
  • Serve as a backup for weekly timecard review and payroll checking, including but not limited to, payroll adjustments, onboarding updates, employee changes and union/JATC documentation
  • Manage payroll adjustments and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure accurate processing of benefit-related payroll deductions
  • Serve as a voice for team members, offering insights to enhance engagement and organizational health
  • Assume shared responsibility for onboarding of new hires, partnering with HR and department leaders to ensure a smooth and compliant onboarding experience
  • Assist with coordination of company events and engagement initiatives
  • Support community-giving efforts and special HR-related projects
  • Support additional office administrative functions to maintain professional standards, operational efficiency, and a positive workplace environment
  • Ensure benefits compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Prepare and manage required filings, including but not limited to, ACA reporting, Form 5500, HRA tax filings, and 401(k) compliance documentation
  • Manage Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) authorization and review processes
  • Partner with the HR Manager to prepare and submit required EEO/AA reporting, including federal and state filings
  • Provide support with non-facilities office needs, including ergonomic adjustments, desk repairs, key requests, and general workspace support
  • Help support procurement and inventory management of office commodities, including refreshments, kitchen supplies, and restroom essentials, ensuring timely replenishment and cost-effective purchasing
  • Support a professional, organized, and welcoming office environment consistent with MTG's culture and standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and managing benefits programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of benefits compliance, payroll processes, and regulatory reporting
  • Experience working with HRIS and related technology platforms
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulatory requirements
