We are looking for a Benefits Coordinator to support our client in Elmhurst, Illinois. This role focuses on administering employee benefit programs, resolving coverage and eligibility questions, and helping maintain accurate records across compensation and leave-related processes. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and practical experience handling benefits coordination, reporting, and FMLA-related activities.
Job Responsibility
Administer benefits enrollment and ongoing benefits processing, including medical insurance coordination and vendor relationship management with benefits providers
Support payroll operations across two payrolls by managing back-end payroll activities and ensuring benefits data is accurate, clean, and aligned for payroll processing
Balance benefit deductions and payroll changes related to terminations, advanced payment credits, and employees on different pay schedules, rates, and semi-monthly processing cycles
Manage leave and compliance-related benefits administration, including FMLA, COBRA, and workers’ compensation matters
Oversee liability and insurance claims-related work connected to payroll and benefits administration
Track and manage a self-operated insurance plan fund, including allocation monitoring and ongoing fund tracking
Interpret and apply contract language for union or public school environments to ensure benefits and payroll processes remain compliant with legal agreements
Maintain understanding of FTEs, compensation-related information, and internal checks and balances to support accurate HR, benefits, and payroll administration
Requirements
Experience supporting employee benefits administration, coordination, or related compensation and benefits functions
Working knowledge of benefit plan processes, eligibility rules, and employee support practices
Familiarity with FMLA administration and the documentation standards associated with leave management
Ability to analyze benefits information, identify inconsistencies, and follow through on corrective action
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records
Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with employees, vendors, and internal teams
Proficiency with HR systems, spreadsheets, or reporting tools used to manage benefits data
